The Heart of Hatha

  • MindBodySoulYoga Studio 350 Fort Washington Ave New York, NY 10033 USA (map)
...when the muscles and joints are rested in their positions, the body, senses, and mind lose their identities and consciousness shines in it’s purity.
— BKS Iyengar

Deepen your understanding of the art and science of Hatha Yoga in this juicy 2-hour workshop.

Explore the depth of your own potential through the discussion and practice of Asana, Pranayama, and Pratyahara. Culled from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, these are the three limbs that we actively experience in a Hatha or Vinyasa class (as opposed to the ethical precepts of the Yamas and Niyamas).

We'll cover a range of classic Hatha Yoga postures, utilizing the ideal alignment for each individual body, in order to create a deep experience of steadiness and ease.

We'll go deeper from there, exploring the vital, animating energy of Prana, creating the freedom to move toward the fullest expression of our practice.

When we are thoroughly absorbed in the experience of Asana and Pranayama, that is Pratyahara. The workshop will culminate with healing restorative postures and a deeply rejuvenating Savasana — the ultimate expression of Pratyahara.

These are potent tools of personal transformation, on and off the mat, so whether you are new to Yoga or a more seasoned practitioner, this in-depth workshop will help you cultivate a deep and lasting connection to the boundless energy, strength, and wisdom already present in you.

* suitable for beginning and experienced students alike!
